The Founders Fund seeks to provide a unique professional development and educational opportunity for highly motivated individuals. The entirely student managed fund provides members the opportunity to explore value investing and understand the complexities of portfolio management. Students involved in the The Founders Fund gain experience from the application of portfolio optimization, financial modeling, and fundamental research. In addition, The Founders Fund's strong internal and external network allows members to break into and excel in challenging, interesting, and rewarding careers in the financial services industry. All of this is achieved while managing an active portfolio.

OUR STRUCTURE
The Founders Fund is spearheaded by a hand-picked executive board including a Portfolio Manager, Chief Investment Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Development Officer and Chief Technical Officer who oversee the Associates, Analysts and Consulting Analysts of nine industry sectors. Every position within the fund is attainable by members and assigned by merit.
Malav Patel Portfolio Manager
Malav is a junior at the University of Florida pursuing both his Bachelor's and Master of Science in Finance through UF’s MSF combined-degree program. He joined The Founders Fund in Fall 2021 as a Consulting Analyst and has rotated through the Technology, Media & Telecom, Consumer, and Financial sectors, serving in roles as an Analyst and Associate.
Over the last two summers, Malav gained experience in the equity markets through internships with Singer Wealth Advisors and NextEra Energy’s Trust Fund Investments team. This summer, Malav will be interning at Barclays as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst in their Natural Resources group located in Houston.
Felipe Frot Chief Investment Officer
Felipe is a junior at the University of Florida pursuing his Bachelor and Master of Science in Finance through UF’s MSF combined-degree program. Felipe joined The Founders Fund in Spring of 2022 as a Consulting Analyst in the Real Estate sector. Since then, he has acted as an Analyst and Associate in various sectors ranging from Energy, Media and Telecomm, and Industrials.
During his sophomore summer, he interned at Jefferies Investment Bank in their Leveraged Finance and Technology groups. This upcoming summer, Felipe will intern at Goldman Sachs New York City in their Industrials group.

Catherine Couture Chief Operating Officer
Catherine is a junior at the University of Florida pursuing her Bachelor and Master of Science in Finance through UF’s MSF combined-degree program. Catherine joined The Founders Fund in Spring of 2022 as a Consulting Analyst in the Consumer sector and has covered Healthcare and Energy as an Analyst and Associate.
During her sophomore summer, Catherine participated in the Girls Who Invest Summer Intensive program at the University of Pennsylvania and completed a private equity internship at Public Pension Capital in New York. This upcoming summer, Catherine will intern as a Private Equity Summer Analyst at Lorient Capital in Miami.
Sam Stone Chief Development Officer
Sam is a junior at the University of Florida pursuing his Bachelor and Master of Science in Finance through UF’s MSF combined-degree program. Sam joined The Founders Fund in Fall of 2022 as an Analyst in the Real Estate sector. Since then, he has acted as an Analyst and Associate in the Industrials and Media and Telecommunications sectors.
During his sophomore summer, Sam interned as an Investment Analyst Intern with the JM Family Enterprises Investments team in Deerfield Beach, Florida. This upcoming summer, Sam will be an Investment Banking Summer Analyst at Citi in New York City.
Lucas Alvarado Chief Technical Officer
Lucas is a junior at the University of Florida studying finance and economics while pursuing a Master of Science in Finance. Within the fund, he has covered a variety of sectors including Financials, Technology, Energy, and Healthcare.
He has spent his summers interning with Conectar Valores, a project finance advisory firm in Bogotá, Colombia, and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He will be joining Guggenheim this summer through the Investment Banking generalist program in New York City.
